Our newsletter features museum news, local history notes and interviews.
The SHS began publishing a consistent newsletter with Volume 1, Issue 1, starting in February, 1984. The early newsletters were a single-sided page. That first issue was titled Sanford Historical Society News Letter, and it wasn’t until Volume 1, Issue 5, of June, 1984, that the title Log Marks first appeared.
In a March 28, 2011 interview conducted by Rick Goodwin for the SHS, Don Marquardt confirmed that he wrote the newsletter for that first year and named it Log Marks, the same title that he used for a column that he wrote for the Sanford Express newspaper. Log Marks has been published every year since 1984.
The Society is trialing a new process where an additional electronic version of the SHS newsletter is distributed via email only to Society members. This version contains historical articles about the Sanford area, membership meeting reminders and updates in-between our quarterly newsletters. We need your email address! Please send an email to with the subject Member Email and we’ll add you to our growing list!
