A celebration Sanford is proud of!
Rich in history and stories, this celebration calls all of Sanford's present and past citizens to come together and spread the cheer of how this great part of Midland County came to be. Founders Day is held the first Saturday after Labor Day each year.
Saturday morning kicks off with an amazing SHS pancake breakfast, and a fabulous church bake sale by the Meridian Church of God. What a great way to fuel up for all the festivities!
It’s always heartwarming to see kids having a blast in bounce houses. There are 2 free supervised bounce houses for the kids from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Those little moments of joy are priceless!
The Home Depot’s “Free Kids Workshop” is an excellent opportunity for young ones to explore their creativity and begins at 10:00, along with children’s sight screening by the Coleman Lions.
Featuring small animal petting zoos.
Demonstrations of wood carving, spinning, blacksmithing, old tractors, model trains, historical displays, military memorabilia, free face painting and temporary tattoos. These demonstrations connect
us to the past.
Free wood branded souvenir plaques by Jeff Bowen while they last.
The children’s treasure dig, and the bean bag toss will bring out their competitive spirit. Who doesn’t love a good treasure hunt?
The Founders Day parade launches at 12:00 noon featuring colorful floats, marching bands, and community spirit. It’s like a moving celebration!
Back on the museum grounds, a mouthwatering lunch is available featuring the annual SHS BBQ pulled pork, our famous bean soup, hotdog kid’s meals, ice cream, and strawberry shortcake.
The Meridian High School Marching Band will provide a free concert. Borderline provides live music later in the afternoon. Music has a way of bringing people together.
Barrel train rides begin at 1:00. Choo-choo! All aboard!
